The Challenge: Growing the Business, One Right Hire at a Time
This is not a req-filler role. You will not sit and wait for inbound job orders to work. You are joining a boutique firm that wins on relationships — and you will be expected to build them, develop them, and grow a portfolio of clients that trusts you with their most important hires.
From day one, you will carry both sides of the desk. You’ll own candidate pipelines and client relationships. You’ll be responsible for:
- Client Development: Identify, prospect, and build relationships with hiring managers, engineering leaders, and HR partners at technology companies across Atlanta and nationally. You’ll run your own BD motion — outreach, discovery calls, and building trust over time.
- Talent Acquisition: Source, qualify, and present technical candidates across disciplines including software engineering, product, UX, cloud, data, and AI. You’ll know what good looks like, and you’ll know how to find it.
- Full-Cycle Search: Own searches from kickoff to close. Intake with clients, talent sourcing, candidate assessment, offer negotiation, and close — you handle it start to finish.
- Market Intelligence: Stay on top of compensation benchmarks, hiring trends, and the technical talent landscape. Your clients should leave every conversation smarter for having talked to you.
- Relationship Management: Build a book — not a transaction log. You’ll develop long-term relationships with candidates who become clients and clients who send referrals. That’s how boutique firms grow.
Is This You?
- Your Track Record: 3–5 years of recruiting experience, with at least 2 years in an agency environment. You’ve placed technical roles, you’ve built client relationships, and you’ve driven revenue — not just filled reqs.
- You Can Sell — Consultatively: You don’t cold pitch. You ask smart questions, understand what a client actually needs, and show them you can solve the problem. Business development doesn’t feel like ‘sales’ to you; it feels like building something.
- You Are High-Output and Self-Directed: You don’t wait to be told what to do next. You have a system. You work it. You manage your own pipeline and hold yourself accountable to outcomes, not just activity.
- You’re Technically Literate: You don’t need to write code, but you can have a credible conversation with a VP of Engineering about what they’re actually looking for in a Staff Engineer. You understand the difference between a backend and a full-stack hire.
- You Build Real Relationships: You remember names, you follow up, and you stay in touch. Your network grows because people genuinely like working with you — not because you’re blasting LinkedIn messages.
- You Thrive in Ambiguity: Boutique means you’ll be doing things that don’t have a playbook yet. You can figure out what needs to happen and make it happen without a manager walking you through each step.
- You Bring the Energy: We’re a small, competitive team that takes the work seriously and each other personally. You’re a people-person in the truest sense — curious, positive, and genuinely motivated to help people find the right next thing.
Preferred Skills
- Technical Recruiting Depth: Experience placing engineering, product, or data roles at a software company or within a technical staffing agency. MUST have proficiency with LinkedIn Recruiter
- BD Chops: A demonstrated ability to open new client accounts, not just maintain existing ones — you’ve prospected, pitched, and won
- AI Tool Fluency: You use modern AI tools to source, write, research, and prioritize — not as a novelty, but as a competitive edge
- CRM Discipline: You keep your pipeline clean, your notes current, and your follow-ups on time
- Market Savvy: You understand comp ranges, talent scarcity, and what’s actually happening in the Atlanta tech market and beyond
- Startup or Boutique Background: You’ve worked in a lean environment where everyone does a little of everything — and you liked it
